Jay VS Kate

I jumped up on the mash up band wagon recently just for kicks. I hit up a blend of Jay’s “Dirt off my Shoulder” and Kate Nash’s “Pumpkin Soup” Peep it out at the tube.

I love riding my bike around around the town. BMX is still the height of style for me when it comes to things with two wheels. I think anybody would look tough rolling around in this all black fit bike from ‘07. All this and more to be found at the BMX museum. Check ‘em out!

Peep the technique. ISO50 is a blog and home to the visual works of Scott Hansen. Filled with great posts on design ( check those old school olympic designs! ) as well as some cool drops about music. Check the shop for some great poster and tee shirt art. Visit ISO50.

Featuring more than 80 typefaces on the inside of the umbrella it’s perfect for the type geek in you and cool enough that you can rock it without any firsthand knowledge of kerning. I can’t say enough about this one. I’ve never really thought of books as being comedic until I grabbed this. The format is simple and plain as Simon Rich delivers hilarity two-three pages at a time. Filled with short story like scenarios, this is a great and quick read. If you see it at the book store I ask you to flip it open anywhere and begin reading. You will laugh. It’s pretty much that awesome. Check it out.

Thanks to digging I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned about many artists outside of my generation I would have otherwise not been aware of. One of the people I’ve gotten to know better is Steve Martin. Now Mr.Martin has had quite the career and of course I saw The Jerk and enjoyed Father of the Bride with everyone else. What I was unaware of was Steve Martin’s stand up material until I found them on vinyl. I had no idea what an odd and dark sense of humor he had.
Once I saw this autobiography I thought I’d pick it up and ended up following it through start to finish in only a couple of sittings. Born Standing Up is a short memior detailing Steve’s upbringing and comedic evolution. Full of a wild cast of characters and quite candid, especially when discussing family ties it’s a great romp through the mind of a great writer and comedian.

Man I know I am. Well at least online, but isn’t that the way. This clever t-shirt from media artist Aram Bartholl displays a long list of current social sites and invites the wearer to check off those they are invovled in. I have to admit although I’m only active in a handful of these, going through the list I’ve probably registered for about half. Quick aside: How many things have you signed up for and never used ( blogger accounts, emails, social sites etc. ) I’ve often wondered how much of the net is unused. End aside. Check the shirt at the artists site here. Via Notcot

“As a company that time and time again gets totally excited about shiny new ideas and only rarely see them through to completion, we’re right in tune with Hobbies, the fifth film in our SD’s “Regrets” series, featuring David Pasquesi” I couldn’t agree more with these words from Coudal. This short film is hilarious. Take some time and check it out here.
